Perfect timing from Wolfgang Riebe, as his book arrives just as we are putting together a feature on the cruise ship industry. This is the fourth re-print and is written by a performer who has vast experience of the industry. With chapters on ship life, types of contracts, customs clauses, Wolfgang has pretty much covered everything from a contractual point of view. As a performer, he has also included information on stages, performing areas and enough pointers to make sure everything goes 100% smoothly! Wolfgang says several times that working on cruise ships is not the holiday it appears in many entertainers’ minds, but there are plenty of positive reasons to pursue it – at least for a year or two.
At the back of the book is a list of contacts from cruise line agents, which I suspect is one of the main reasons for buying the book. I checked a couple of these contacts out, and they were both correct and bang up-to-date. An enjoyable read, with lots of useful information – he even tells you how to do your laundry on board! GH
What's Hot: The latest lists of solid cruise contacts
What's Not: Could have been designed better
