Now here's an interesting slant on the classic plot. A ring is borrowed and vanishes as normal, but instead of bringing out a key case to reveal the ring, the magician opens up his coat to reveal rows of clips apparently attached to the lining. Each clip has a different ring attached to it and the magician starts to try and 'sell' some of these rings to the spectator as a replacement for their own vanished one. Of course, one of the rings attached to the hooks turns out to be the borrowed ring!
The method is exactly the same as with the key case (i.e. a reel), but instead of being inside a key case it is sewn into a piece of black material which is attached via Velcro to the inside of your jacket. You receive this piece of material which has 15 hooks attached to it in rows on one side, one of the hooks being attached to the hidden reel. You also get 15 large tacky looking imitation rings which you can attach to the fixed hooks (although the instructions suggest you may care to collect your own range of imitation rings instead).
The instructions provide details of the simple handling plus a page of standard 'ring' gags which might suit your personality. I think in the right hands this has good comedy potential - I can imagine someone like John Archer, for instance, getting a lot of fun out of something like this - so if you are looking to introduce a comedy angle into the effect, this might be the one for you. I do feel this presentation weakens the impossibility of the actual trick, as a spectator may simply assume you quickly attached the borrowed ring to one of the hooks since they are all accessible inside the jacket, but you may feel this is more than made up for by the fun you could have with it.
