Look Again

Price: $5.95 (approx. £4)
Look Again is a method for revealing a
spectator’s chosen card. The chosen card is returned to the deck and then
apparently found by the magician. (Bob Solari spins a card from the deck).
The card is revealed to be a King, which
the spectator will say is not their card. Invited to ‘Look Again’
it is still not their card. Finally the magician moves a finger to reveal
that the King is holding a miniature reproduction of the chosen card.
You get a blue and a red back Bicycle
court card and a page of instructions. To perform you need a reliable force and
a method for finding the gimmicked card, made easier as due to its construction
the gimmick also acts as a thick card. Everything else is presentation.
Bob Solari says in the instructions that
he has been using this effect for
years with ‘great results’. Maybe
I’m just getting a bit jaded, but for me this seemed to be a ‘so what’
effect, playing on the good nature of patient spectators for a not very
significant effect. The spectator can see perfectly well that the court card is
not theirs and the ultimate revelation is only weakly ‘clever’. I think that
if I was the spectator I’d think ‘Oh
yeh? Well I couldn’t see the little card because your finger was hiding it
smart-ass’, or words to that effect.
The gimmicked card is quite nice and
might well be used with a more interesting presentation. SB
What’s Hot: little gimmick card is
quite nice
What’s Not: the premise of the effect
