When El Duco himself died his business was taken over by Gay Ljungberg of Gycklaren Magic Marketing in Sweden, and that is why this version of the Flying Ring is still available. With this you receive a black leather keycase which has a reel concealed inside under a fixed down leather flap. Some versions of the reel inside a key case do not bother to hide the reel itself which means that when you open the case to throw out the clasps, you have to quickly shut it again. With El Duco's this is not the case as the reel is covered over.
The reel itself seems smooth in action and quiet. The clip attached to the end of the thread is identical to the normal ones in the case (surprisingly, this is often not the case) and it is very easy to get a ring onto the clip. Again, this is not always so, as some products have quite stiff clips which can make it awkward to get a ring quickly and secretly attached.
The instructions are supplied on one side of an A4 sheet. In this you are told how to use the reel without damaging it, and a set up is described which mirrors Al Koran's original 'down the sleeve' method. You are even supplied with a small weight in order to make it as easy as possible to get the line down the coat sleeve. The routine described is basic and does not stray from the main elements of the plot.
If you are looking for a traditional key case with a reel, this one looks like it would give good service. It's not cheap, but then you tend to get what you pay for and I get the impression from handling this product that it will do exactly what you need it to. ML (From the Flying Ring article)
